The Way of Paman & Wise Acre Comics: Charting a New Path in Comics

Friends, foes, and students of prose! Exciting updates are afoot, and I couldn’t be happier to share them with you. In the vast universe of comic narratives, there’s always been a hunger for rich, diverse stories that resonate with people from all walks of life. Today, we’re making a leap further in that direction.

A New Dawn with Wise Acre Comics

First off, The Way of Paman is proud to announce our collaboration with Wise Acre Comics, our brand-new publisher! Not only does this union bring together two passionate entities, but it also heralds a potent alliance of two Black-owned platforms. We both share a vision - to carve a space in the comic book and overall fiction industry for stories featuring Black and Brown protagonists that have their message firmly rooted in non-fiction. A space where characters of color don't just play supporting roles but lead with purpose, depth, and authenticity.

Dark Sentinel: An Evolved Narrative

To all the fans of Dark Sentinel, brace yourselves. Wise Acre Comics will be holding a Kickstarted campaign in early 2024 to get the first issue published and in front of as many eyes as possible! As we approach the upcoming Kickstarter, we've sprinkled some magic over the narrative. Lettersquids has re-lettered the entire first issue, imbuing it with fresh vibrancy and highlighting new and rethought dialogue that elevates the storytelling to a whole new level. With your help making the campaign for Issue #1 successful Dark Sentinel Issue #2 will be just around the corner!

Coming Soon: Damion

Our creative gears are turning relentlessly. We are in the throes of piecing together another captivating tale centered around a new character named Damion. What can you expect? Intrigue, depth, and a narrative that promises to captivate from the very first page.

Honoring The Pioneers

The call for diversity in comics isn’t new. Pioneers in the industry like Ta-Nehisi Coates, who breathed life into Marvel's Black Panther; Nnedi Okorafor with her exceptional work on LaGuardia for Dark Horse Comics; or Brian Stelfreeze, known for his iconic illustrations, have been pushing boundaries for years. Even within the indie space, we’ve seen marvelous work from creators like David Walker or the unmissable contributions by Sanford Greene at Image Comics. These trailblazers have set the stage, and we, at The Way of Paman and Wise Acre Comics, are here to further the narrative.

Stay Connected

To our invaluable readers and supporters, we encourage you to stay glued to our social media channels. The journey ahead is brimming with updates, sneak peeks, and riveting content that you wouldn’t want to miss.

The Way of Paman, along with Wise Acre Comics, is more committed than ever to making that a reality.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and diving into diverse worlds.

Marc Glave

I grew up on comic books, specifically Marvel. A lot of what I drew on to determine right and wrong came from the powerful lessons therein. Now that I'm older and wiser and can see the world for what it is, I believe the modern day mythology of the Superhero is more important now than ever. People of Color and minorities, especially women, have so much to deal with already. I seek to be a bridge between escapism, realism and knowledge.
